OBS was awesome but once is enough. the 5day really flew past. before you know it, its time to leave. i really thank God that i had this chance to be in OBS instead of somewhere else, cause its a wonderful experience i will never ever forget.
comment?
ps. its ok if you dont read this long post cause its for my memory's sake. day 1 I was at first reluctant to go obs because i saw samuel chaota face and i was very sure i did not want that 5 days later. anyway, my group was called AMUNDSEN!♥ hong laoshi didnt know how to pronounce it so she went like " ah-bu-san". LOL. then when the instructor, cecilia, told us we were called amundsen, we're all laughing like shit. we ferryed from punggol to camp 2. actually day 1 was quite sian since it was administrative stuff all that. by the end of the day, i was alr tired and exhausted. i guess it was tough being in a new environment and doing new things. we packed our bags for expedition for tuesday to thursday. But we got to cook our own dinner and pitched our tents. i think its really amazing how the same things you do at home like cooking can also be done in nature without technology. at night, we camped at camp 2. i slept with shuying, zhuoning and wanyi. day 2 Early in the morning, we woke up and had to carry our 10+kg bag pack and trek to camp 1. omg i really felt like dying.we finally arrived at camp 1. omg, compared to camp 2, camp1 was really heaven. so huge. there was a swimming pool, rockwalls and stuff. the toilets were much cleaner. so after lunch, we was taught how to belay and the basics. later we rock climbed! this rock climbing was a little different because we had to climb in pairs and there was the bungee cord that links us together. i climbed with weiqi and we made it to the top with much perserverance and determination. it wasnt easy to climb because sometimes we got into each others path. but during this activity, i really could sense the start of the bond in 314. we cheered one another and even though some of us were afraid and wanted to give up, we supported and encouraged one another despite knowing each other for barely a week. it was really very heart warming. In the afternoon we had this kayaking dry run where we were taught to capsize and the basics of paddling. i took the same kayak as xining and kailing. and later we had a pontoon(sp?) jump whichwas a mini version on jetty jump. super fun. but a bit scary cause i did not expect to sink in so deep. but its was fun fun fun. that night we didnt need to cook cause there was canteen food. super awesome manzxczxc. and we rested for a night in some forest. day 3 we started off our land expedition! first time we did our own navigation and stuff. trekking was seriously no joke. we had to carry our 10+kg bagpack and trek about 13km plus the heat was killing. it was really crazy. at the start, we trek and most of us had absolutely no idea where we are going, we just followed and we got lost a few times. but we never complained or give up. joeline kept encouraging us which really which lots. sometimes i really felt like giving up and resting. but i couldnt cause i really wanted to continue and not let amundsen down. in the end we managed to arrive to meet armstrong. they were damn fast, they reached like 1h before us. we later we were supposed to reach the campsite by playing this game where we had to stand in a circle and trhow the pebble in your right hand to the person on your left while you catch the pebble from your friend on the left withouting dropping for 3 consecutive times. it may look simple but to 314, its not. we took 2.5h doing that activity but it the end we still did not manage to complete the task. for me, i was kinda disappointed yet encouraged. disappointed because we were so close to getting 3 throws but we always fail. no matter how hard we wanted to succeed, it just slipped past our fingers. encouraged because no matter how long we stood, no one faltered. and we did not blame each other. we have not been the fastest class to complete, but we have been bonded much more. at night we did this activity where we had to sleep on each others tummy and feel each others breathing and haizu told as a very touching story. it helped alot. day 4 we started off early in the morning kayaking back to camp 2. it was really fun. i was at the back and xining was in the centre and kailing in front. i am so proud of chengbus and aia course we managed to arrive at camp 2 with an amazing timing of 4.5 hours. usually it takes 7 plus hours but 4.5h is really something. :) despite the choppy seas and the the strong winds. we did it. we had to paddle like crazy cause the wind keep blowing us to the fence. because we managed to reach early, WE GOT TO JETTY JUMP! it was really cool ok. at first when i stepped onto the platform, i was damn scared when i looked down it looked so far below. but idk why when i said 314, i love you. i didnt feel as scared. then i closed my eyes and jump. i was in mid air for super long la. then i was like eh why still never reach yet. feels damn scary. but it was so fun when i finally touched the water. although a few of us were scared. but some managed to conquer their fears. i really really think that they are very courageous to overcome their fears. good job guys! day 5 when i woke up it was super cold, we got back our valuables and got our certs. finally there our the grand finale. thank God we were 314 so we were like the 2nd last class to perform. me and louisa were at the back desperately trying to salvage the performance and trying to ally with 313 and 315 to get them to cheer for us no matter what. in the end, althogh our performance was quite fail. but still, we completed it as a class:) it was time to go back and when we took the boat back, we were all complaining how obs wasnt long enough. i have woken up from the best dream of my life and ive stepped back into reality. back to homework and training. they must not be the funnest things to do but i will and i can do it. i hope i will use what i learn to become a better person. i really thank God for OBS. I was almost not allowed to go. but im so glad i did. friendships were forged and i became a much stronger person than i was. the reflections that we did really helped me think about stuff. i wanna ceci "There's something about OBS that stays with you for life" precious memories |
